Abstract

Negative consequences of sand entry from the formation into the well were shown. Highly effective method of preventing the formation of sand entry into the well is the use of gravel filters. The gravel filter types and their application, the choice of the diameter of gravel grains for gravel pack were considered. The various gravel filter technologies, depending on the geological and technical conditions were analyzed. The technology of gravel and liquid filters in the hole with an open bottom hole was studied. Theoretical study of influence of the size and permeability of the gravel pack on the well productivity performance was performed. According to the results of theoretical studies the graphs of the relationship of gas flow rates in the presence and absence of a gravel pack on the ratio of the permeability of the gravel pack and reservoir and gravel pack thickness were plotted and analyzed. The results of the study justified the optimal values of the gravel pack radius and the permeability ratio of the gravel pack and reservoir.
