Abstract

Due to the rapid development of technology, it is becoming increasingly important to implement innovative approaches in the design and construction of drilling rigs for the oil and gas industry. This research paper discusses in detail the potential benefits and opportunities offered by Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in the information support of the drilling rig life cycle (LC). Beginning with an analysis of existing methods, the article identifies the limitations of traditional approaches and the need to move to more integrated technologies. The literature review thoroughly highlights the existing challenges, such as the complexity of process control and the instability of drilling equipment life cycle management, which determine the relevance of research in this area. The methodological approach of the article includes consideration of the impact of BIM on all stages of the life cycle, taking into account the positions of all stakeholders. The article emphasizes the importance of establishing a clear system of information exchange and interaction between participants, which helps to effectively manage all aspects of the project. Real-life examples of BIM implementation are illustrated by successful projects where the technology allows not only to effectively manage design decisions, but also to influence economic and quality indicators. The results of the study underline the importance of BIM as a critical element for quality management and cost reduction of oil and gas facilities in the challenging environment of the oil and gas sector. The discussion in the article also takes into account the prospects for technology development, such as the expansion of BIM integration into a higher-level information system, as well as the need to create standards and legal frameworks for data security and privacy, emphasizing the need for further research and practical implementation to maximize the potential of this technology. The study also highlights the importance of implementing digital tools in the oil and gas sector, including process automation, improved forecasting accuracy and risk mitigation at every stage of the project. The use of BIM not only optimizes costs and increases development speed, but also ensures data integrity and improves collaboration between all stakeholders, which is critical in the context of the complexity and scale of projects in the modern oil industry.
